Biographical/Historical note

The American Association of University Professors is a professional organization that seeks to advocate for academic freedom and shared governance, to define ethics and standards for the profession, and to support higher education as a beneficial contribution to the community. The University of West Georgia Chapter was chartered as the West Georgia College chapter in 1961. In 1996, the group became known as the State University of West Georgia chapter, before becoming the University of West Georgia chapter in 2005.
