Biographical/Historical note

The Learning Resource Center was a campus-wide support service which was active predominantly from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Its primary constituencies were the faculty and students of West Georgia College. The mission of the Learning Resource Center was to support the academic, institutional, and public service missions of the college. Its main goals were to enhance the teaching and learning process, maintain a well-equipped inventory of media equipment, ensure professionally-produced visual aids for use in the classroom, aid students in assignments, provide students and faculty with increased options for delivering classroom instructions, and ensure that the academic, institutional, and public service missions of the college would be met through technology.

The collection is arranged into series and subseries. Series I: Slides contains Subseries A: Buildings and Scenery; Subseries B: Campus Events and Activities; Subseries C: Sports and Recreation; Subseries D: Students and Faculty on Campus; Subseries E: Photos from Yearbooks; Subseries F: Learning Resource Center Slide Shows; Subseries G: Miscellaneous. Series II: Photos contains Subseries A: Campus Buildings and Scenery; Subseries B: Campus Events and Activities; Subseries C: Students and Faculty on Campus. Series III: Audio Visual Materials; Series IV: Photo Negatives; Series V: Miscellaneous Papers.

Provenance is unknown. Transferred to Special Collections sometime in the early 2000s.

General note

The label of "Carton" refers to the shoe boxes in which the slides are stored. that the slides are stored in. The label of "Bin" refers to the slide boxes that the slides are stored in within each shoe box. The label of "Box" for boxes 1 and 2 refers to the boxes in which the cartons are stored. The label of "Box" for boxes 3 and 4 refers to the boxes in which the slides are stored. The label of "Box" for boxes 5-10 refers to the legal-size document cases.
