Biographical/Historical note

The Status of Risk Management at West Georgia College (April 10, 1991) was commissioned to assess the status of risk management at West Georgia College. On October 15, 1990, Dr. Maurice K. Townsend, President of West Georgia College, employed the service of Ms. Corlis Regina Long as a research assistant to conduct the study. The report was designed to be a point of departure for West Georgia College's efforts to become a more effective institution through pro-active risk management. The West Georgia College Loss Control Manual (March 1993) was formulated and distributed to the college management as an aide to assist in the task of "providing a safe work environment at West Georgia College." In addition to avoiding death and injury in the work place, the goal was to implement a comprehensive program that would help avoid litigation costs and the publicity that could follow. The document was designed as a looseleaf manual so that additions or charges could be easily made.
