Scope and Contents note
This collection contains correspondence, photographs, a handwritten poem, and a scrapbook of Myrtle Goodwyn.
The focus of the collection is the scrapbook which is titled, “The Graduate School Days,” and includes the inscription, “To Myrtle from Dad.” It is dated 1924-1925 and is filled with memorabilia related to Carrollton High School, from which we assume Myrtle graduated in 1925. There is one photo dated 1922 captioned “The A&M,” which features a football team seated in front of the university’s old administration building. Another photo shows a sixth grade class seated on the steps of a school building. Another photo shows Mr. Cousins, and there is a picture of two teen-aged girls sitting on a lawn, unidentified. The scrapbook also has clippings glued to its pages, a Valentine card, senior banquet place cards and other memorabilia.

Biographical/Historical note
Myrtle Frances Goodwyn (1909 - 2005) was the only child of Dr. Henry Jackson Goodwyn and Sara Elizabeth “Bessie” Roop. She was born in Roopville, but by the time she was school age, the family had moved to Carrollton. She married Arthur James (A. J.) Baskins Jr. and was widowed in 1946 when he died at a young age. A. J. and Myrtle had at least one child. In 1949, Myrtle married A. J.’s younger brother, Thomas Seaman. It is not known if they had children. Mrs. Baskin lived at 514 Tanner Street in Carrollton in 1962. She died in 2005 in Winter Park, Florida, making her 96 at her date of death.
