Scope and Contents
This collection is primarily composed of historic photographs of people in and around the city of Newnan and Coweta County including the Atkinson family, Hollis family, McRitchie family and photos of Civil War soldiers. The collection also contains miscellaneous paper materials and some photos of buildindings and events that happened in the county. The NCHS maintains a separate collection of composed of historic photographs of buildings in and around Newnan and Coweta County.

This collection was artifically assembeled by the Newnan Coweta Historical Society (NCHS) at an unknown date. This collection is primarily composed of historic photographs of people in and around newnan and coweta. The NCHS maintains a separate collection of historic photographs of buildings in and around Newnan and Coweta county.

Collection processed by Jennah MacPherson in February 2020 as part of the Community Archives program at the University of West Georgia Ingram Library Special Collections.
Processing Information
In June 2019, University of West Georgia Ingram Library Special Collections and the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society executed a Memorandum of Agreement under which Special Collections would assess and prioritize processing of archival collections held by the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society, assess preservation needs, and arrange and describe archival materials, thereby making them more publicly accessible. Work on this project was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Michael Camp starting in August 2019
