Biographical / Historical

L. Ron Hubbard (1911-1986), an American author who wrote science fiction and fantasy stories, founded the Church of Scientology in 1954.

Hubbard initially wrote a manuscript titled, "Dianetics: The Original Thesis," in 1948. According to a chapter titled, "About L. Ron Hubbard," in the publication All About Radiation (1979), that manuscript was "his first formal report of his discoveries about the mind and life." In 1950, the Hubbard Dianetic Research Foundation was created and the first Church of Scientology was founded in February 1954. In August 1967, Sea Organization, a new Scientology group, emerged to research and explore past civilizations.
