Lorene Flanders, Dean of Libraries at the University of West Georgia from 2005 to 2017, was the driving force behind a marked increase in the number of programs offered by Ingram Library. Her initiative was two-fold with (1) library departments organizing programs and (2) Ingram Library’s Penelope Melson Society, a friends of the library group which she organized, sponsoring additional programming.

Included in this collection are the records of programs organized by Ingram Library departments. They include annual events (i.e., New Faculty Orientation, Library Open House, Constitution Day, Charles Beard Lecture, Nights at the Library); public programs and exhibits usually in collaboration with campus and community partners; professional meetings (i.e., GUGM and BIG); and interlibrary events (i.e., Student Appreciation Week, retirement receptions).
