Biographical/Historical note

Steve Anthony is a former Chief of Staff to Georgia Speaker of the House, Thomas B. Murphy; past executive director of the Democratic Party of Georgia; political consultant; and author.

Anthony was born July 4, 1951 in Rome, Georgia. He graduated from East Rome High School in 1969 and recieved a bachelor's degree in political science and history from West Georgia College in 1973. He holds a juris doctorate from John Marshall Law School, 1977.

Anthony served as a legislative aide in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1977-1995, including his time as an aide to Speaker Thomas B. Murphy from 1981-1995. He served as executive director of the Democratic Party of Georgia from 1995-1998 and has served as a political consultant. His book, Witness to History: A Memoir, Tom Murphy and His Role in Georgia Politics, was published in 2010.

Anthony was a Lecturer in the Political Science Department at Georgia State University from 1999 to 2015.
