Administrative History

The Association for Humanistic Education (AHE) was founded in 1976 to provide a structure for educators to explore—both theoretically and experimentally—the newly emerging field of humanistic education. Anne Richards who served as a professor of psychology at the State University of West Georgia from 1975 until 2001 also served as the Executive Officer of the University's chapter of AHE from approximately 1976 to 1981.

Humanism is a moral philosophy that embodies various idealistic goals for humanity which include but are not limited to gender equality, human rights, social justice, freedom from religion, the need to destroy prejudice, the need to eradicate all forms of abuse and slavery, and to cultivate a positive world based on love of one's fellow human.
