The collection documents Nellie Dunaway Duke’s activism on behalf of women’s issues in the state of Georgia, and contains correspondence, meeting minutes, printed material, writings photographs, and other materials. Major topics and organizations include the Equal Rights Amendment, the Georgia Commission on Women, the Georgia Osteoporosis Initiative, the West Georgia Women’s Forum, and Democratic Party politics in Carroll County and the state of Georgia. The collection also includes copies of newspaper columns written by Duke and published in the Times Georgian newspaper in the early 1980s, along with the transcript of an oral history with Duke conducted by Georgia State University in 1999.
