Scope and Contents note

From the Collection:

This section of the Bob Barr papers contains VHS tapes, Beta tapes, audiocassette tapes, microcassette tapes, miscellaneous recordings such as reel-to-reel tapes and MP tapes, as well as CDs, and photographs and negatives.

The VHS tapes record campaign ads (Barr’s and others), TV news casts, documentary material, news conferences, speeches, testimony, and news shows. The beta tapes are recorded campaign spots Barr made in his campaigns for Congress. The audiocassette and microcassette tapes recorded telephone interviews that Barr gave, town hall meetings, speaking engagements, and radio shows. Topics covered include a large variety of the issues of the day. The miscellaneous recording formats are similar to audiocassettes in type of recording and topics.

The photograph and negative collection contains numerous duplications across folders. A few sets of photos have been matched to sets of negatives, but the majority have not. The result is that some folders are full of negatives only, while the photos are contained in other folders spread through the twenty boxes.

Most photos are 4 x 6 prints and negatives are 35mm film. Broad categories such as Campaign, Speaking Engagements, Visitors, and Personal were used to organize photos. Identifications are noted on the folders where known; many folders are labeled “unidentified.” Included are two photo albums compiled by Catherine Brock of Carrollton who worked for Newt Gingrich before moving to Barr’s office.

This portion contains boxes 693-745.
