The first subseries contains twenty boxes with Murphy's files for each member of the Georgia legislature during his last term as Speaker of the House. The folders span the length of the representative's time in the legislature, so some members have several decades' worth of files while others served only one term. The files are divided and arranged alphabetically by name, and each name has up to four different headings. Liner saved any correspondence sent to Murphy regarding committee work ("committee correspondence"), office supply orders ("requisition/order forms"), general correspondence with Murphy ("correspondence"), and photos of the legislator.
