The Irvine Sullivan Ingram Library was dedicated on May 25, 1980, under the presidency of Maurice Townsend of West Georgia College. Until this dedication, the building, constructed in 1968, was referred to as the Library. The college's library was formerly housed in Sanford Hall and was referred to as Sanford Library.

Annie Belle Weaver was the first librarian at West Georgia College starting in August 1933 and also served as the first Director of Libraries from 1968 to her retirement in 1969.
