The George Howell Robison and Mary Ethyl Robison Papers are a reflection of the early history of the University of West Georgia. The collection is composed of reunion correspondence, school work, newspaper clippings and photographs. Many of the items refer directly to the Fourth District A&M School, including graduation invitations and report cards.

Biographical/Historical note
George Howell Robison was born in Carroll County, Georgia on October 5, 1894. He was the son of Jefferson Davis Robison and Margaret Louisa "Lula" Robinson Robison. G. H. Robison attended the University of West Georgia, when it was known as the Fourth District A&M School, graduating in 1918. Mary Ethyl Nixon was born on August 25, 1897. Ms. Nixon also attended the Fourth District A&M School, graduating in 1915. Mary Ethyl and George Howell were married on December 25, 1921. Mary and George Robison had three children, Robbie, Ray and Helen Robison Foster. Mr. Robison served in World War I and later became commander of American Legion Post 143. He worked as a cotton buyer for Mandeville Mills for 31 years and also served as a city councilman in Carrollton. He died on May 10, 1964. Mary Ethyl Robison died on February 16, 1985.
